Giving Tuesday 2024

Giving Tuesday, established in 2012, is a special day dedicated to doing good and giving back. What began as a simple idea—a day to support charities and organisations making a difference—has grown over the past decade into a worldwide movement of generosity and kindness.

How can I support Barnsley Carers Service this Giving Tuesday?

There are an estimated 28,000 people in Barnsley caring for a friend or family member who is ill, frail or disabled.  They give their time, energy, and care freely, many for more than 35 hours a week. Most unpaid carers find their role rewarding.  But it can also be tiring.  Your support will help them take a much-needed break from their caring role, giving them time to recharge their batteries and manage their own health and wellbeing, so they can continue caring, or learn a new skill to improve their (or the person they care for) quality of life.

  • £5 will pay for a carer to join one of our coffee mornings, a chance to take a break from their caring role and spend time with other unpaid carers over a cup of coffee and a slice of cake
  • £10 will pay for two carers to take part in a wellbeing group, helping them take care of their own health and wellbeing (which is often neglected because they are busy taking care of the health and wellbeing of their loved ones)
  • £15 will pay for three carers to receive targeted advice and information, including 1:1 benefits advice or skills training, improving their overall quality of life (as well as the life of those they care for)

Many people don’t realise they are an unpaid carer and that there is support available.  If you, or someone you know, would benefit from our services, please contact us on 01226 288772 or email barnsleycarers@cloverleaf-advocacy.co.uk for more information.

Please note: Barnsley Carers are part of Cloverleaf Advocacy, a registered charity who has been supporting people to have their voices heard and access the services they need for almost 30 years.  All donations made will go directly to the Barnsley Carers service to support unpaid carers in Barnsley.
