Barnsley Carers Awarded £8,351 to Support Unpaid Carers Reduce Household Food Costs

We are thrilled to announce Barnsley Carers have been awarded £8,351 by Barnsley Council and the Department of Works and Pensions (DWP) to help support unpaid carers who are struggling with their food bills this winter.

The funding will provide 100 unpaid carers with an ‘essentials’ food package, a £50 food voucher (to use at a local supermarket), and a cookbook focused on producing healthy meals on a budget.

This grant recognises the hard work and dedication of Barnsley’s amazing community of unpaid carers, and the impact giving your time freely to help take care of a loved one can have on your lives. We understand the challenges you face and hope this funding will go some way to easing those burdens over the winter months.

We’ll be sharing more information on how to apply for a food parcel and voucher shortly so please keep an out eye on our website and social media for further details.
